The Joy of the Lord is my Strength

Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is sacred to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10).

Sometimes things are hard. Sometimes they're harder than they need to be. It is so easy to find yourself wandering in wilderness - not hoping for tomorrow, but wounded by today.

I guess this is as much for me as anyone but don't let today win. Don't let the circumstances of life blur the goal.
Know that God has a plan for each of us. If you find yourself bleeding from the sharp edges of life and not knowing where to go, know that there is joy in The Lord. The Israelites were in slavery and had just re-built the temple walls. Even though they had just accomplished an amazing and arduous task, they were in despair. You would think they would feel energized by their accomplishment, but they could only feel terrible for the slavery they were in.

Nehemiah had a different perspective. He told them to celebrate their accomplishment and the Lord was with them. No matter where you find yourself, the Lord has you so be happy.

I think I like his idea better than mine...

So wherever you find yourself today - whatever pain or hurt or burden you are feeling...

The Joy of The Lord is your strength!
Rejoice and be glad.
