Confessional

Another week comes where practice was so NOT good. We just didn’t click this morning in practice. So, we just prayed and asked God to take over...

He did.

I need to say a special thanks to Mandy Huff who just let GO on “Happy Day”. You know - I told the praise team that just because you aren’t on the stage does not mean you don’t effect worship. Mandy did just that. We fed off of her preparation - her joy in the Lord - and when she broke out dancing, all of our spirits raised in unison. The Holy Spirit just took over from that point on. All glory to God.

So - it was also a big day for me later on. I had never fallen out in the spirit before. I told God if I was going to fall out He would have to knock me down. That’s just what he did. “Show Me Your Glory” is anointed. If you are not singing this song, you are missing out. Anyway - at the end of service we just kept playing and the spirit just started rising and I felt my left knee get weak. I tried to stay standing but it just ended up giving out and down I went. I just stayed down in laughter. Now you must know the spirit was strong in the altar this Sunday. I just want to testify that falling out in the Spirit is real. I have never passed out or collapsed in my life. I just don’t do that. The Holy Spirit is powerful. I promise!

Just a great week.... God is good.

Blessings....

Confessional

OK - today is a real confessional. Not about the songs but about the worship.

So - this morning I was really distracted. My voice is not fully healed from camp 2 weeks ago. So, I can’t sing like I want to. Additionally - this was not the best week for me in terms of clinging to God (which is SO important to each of us.) So I didn’t come in as ready as I normally am for worship (Ironic that I spoke on being prepared for worship last week - I feel like such a hypocrite)

Anyway, I had no idea that our speaker would bring such fire when he spoke. But - more importantly to me - I didn’t have to wait until he spoke. I could feel the Spirit radiating from him and his wife during worship. Their fire lit my fire! It was that evident. So, here is “the worship leader” being led in worship by members of the congregation who brought fire and incense to His throne when I came unprepared. Seriously. You might not have known it being at Faith Sunday morning but that’s what happened. I was not going to lead a great service. It wasn’t in me this week. God said, “So what. I’m going to lead a great service whether you are with me or not.” And that’s just what He did.

Our worship is clearly led by the Holy Spirit. Philippians 3:3 says, “For it is we who are the circumcision, we who worship by the Spirit of God, who glory in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh” NLT

I have to be faithful to this and give glory to God. I know I should every week - but this week was a clear illustration I needed to share with you. Worship was great this week. I am here to testify that I had nothing to do with it. My flesh said no but God said yes.

Thank to God for Matt. We need more people like him who are lit up with the fire of His spirit!

I can’t wait for next week :-)

Confessional

OK - so it is obvious I am not a blogger. I would like to be... but I get a little distracted... I’m going to keep trying :-)

This week was special. We spent the morning testifying about what we saw at Jesus Culture:Dallas. Look, I know some people think what happens at Bethel in Redding is a little strange... but I am here to testify that everything I felt at Jesus Culture:Dallas was real! The power of God is real and it is still VERY much here! The healing we experienced was real! ... and the words God spoke to us were real! If you want to know more... ask me... but be prepared to sit for a while. This was a life changing conference and we shared our stories this Sunday Morning. Thanks Dylan, Tiffani, Ariel and Vivi!

The songs were directly from the conference (except for the opener - that is a re:Verb original and I LOVE the way we do it!) Of note - I had lost my voice during camp the week before (actually from praying in strong authority - not from camp games. MAN! The spirit was strong there!) SO my wife and Tiffani led most of the songs this morning. However, I led Jake Hamilton’s version of Hallelujah. He changed the words (and if you know the Leonard Cohen song - and what it means - then you understand why) and it is an amazing anthem (no pun intended). As a result of that, I had a great rasp on that song and Tiffani and Vivi led the others better than I ever could:-) I thoroughly enjoyed leading that song - It should be on Jake’s new release coming soon (He’s recording in Atlanta July 14th).

Also, if you want a new song that is POWERFUL - check out “Show Me Your Glory” on Jesus Culture’s new ep “My Passion”. I was moved to weeping when I experienced it in Dallas - and almost every time since them. It was our altar call and I felt God move in a sweet way....

All in all - it was a great morning of celebrating our independence in and dependance on Christ!

Confessional

This was a difficult week in many ways - Mainly because of the subject and what went on. It is always difficult when things happen to people in leadership. It is even more difficult when you are friends - even family - of those people in leadership.

Needless to say - without rehashing everything - planning this week was difficult, preparing for this week was difficult and Sunday itself was difficult. However, God showed how amazing he was in each word spoken, in each note sung and in every tear shed. Forgiveness is at the core of every christian - or at least it should be... and I am thankful that His grace is enough.

God is good.

Sunday Set Lists 4-11-2010

Hey guys... It is talking me some time to get back into the habit of posting... but here goes my confessional for Sunday the 11th!

Set List

Walk In Song:         Christ is Risen - Matt Maher

Worship:                Glorious - Paul Baloche

                        Hosanna - Paul Baloche

Your Grace is Enough - Matt Maher

Worship Video: The Crowd or the Cross Igniter Media

Altar Call:         At The Foot of the Cross - Kari Jobe

The More I Seek You - Kari Jobe

Closing:                Christ is Risen - Matt Maher

Confessional

Now, this is the set I should have done Easter Sunday. I tried to do too much last week. You know - in my preparation time I felt God saying, “Just slow down. What can you do that is more than what I am going to do?” Well, I didn’t listen last week. While last week wasnt bad - it wasn’t what it could have been... This week, I listened.

Last week, I could not get “Christ is Risen” out of my head - but I didn’t do it... I still can’t get it out of my head. If you don’t know this song, you must find it and lead it in worship. POWERFUL! It was a great way to start the service - even if I did start it a little slow. I love what this song says. It just drips truth.

The next three songs just went so well. I think “Glorious” is so anointed. When I first heard it at the NWLC last year, I knew that it was a song I had to do in worship. Actually, the songs that have really changed my year I heard at the NWLC last year... and if I would have been on time I would have heard Matt Maher and “Christ is Risen” - but that’s a whole other story... The power of the Resurrected Savior is truly glorious and this song does a fantastic job saying that. “Hosanna” and “Your Grace is Enough” are CCLI top 25 for a reason. They are powerful songs and they are powerful at Faith by the Holy Spirit’s indwelling. So the worship set was great for me.

Our Altar Call time was stripped down to just piano and voices. Bare. Raw. Just like we should be before Jesus at the cross. These songs were just what this time needed. Even though I am somewhat biased, I thought Vivi (my wife) did an excellent job of leading them and handing them off to me to finish out. We went right into “Christ is Risen” to end the service.

All of that was great... but where God really got to me was in communion and after the service - at the end... I thought we might do communion in the middle of worship, but I blazed right through... my bad :-)... and Pastor came up at the end to offer up our communion time. My wife asked me what I was going to do and I said “I don’t know”... so I just played a little and asked God what he wanted me to sing. He gave me the hymn “My Jesus I love Thee”. That song - for me - was it. Then for some reason... God brought me back into it in the end and we coupled it with “Christ is Risen” WOW!

Leaders - if you can - take time at the end of your worship day to enjoy God. If you team is patient with you and they’ll extend the last song just a bit... the spirit will take off to amazing places... I promise.

I hope your week was blessed. All glory to God!

Evaluation

This Easter I had so many hopes and wants but they just weren’t meant to be. First our hot water was off in our apt... Nice. It made getting ready hard. It also made it difficult for my wife to be involved in worship - in more ways than I can describe here - and she arrived at the very end. I really like worshipping with her, so that made the day start disappointingly.

About the set: I loved Glorious. That will be a song we will attach to here at Faith Assembly. The next three songs I changed abruptly on Friday. Originally, I had To Deserve, No Other Name and Your Grace is Enough. These 3 songs are crowd favs here at Faith but I felt we needed to move to other songs that illustrated Easter better. Well Jesus Paid it All wasn’t one of them. It just fell flat. Even though the words were great - no one connected. I hated that for our opening Easter song, but it just wasn’t the right choice. However things really picked up. Jesus Messiah and Sing to the King were great. But the high point was this video...

I love what it says. We’re going to be doing Come Awake as the walk in song next week. Just a fantastic message in vide and in song...

Dr Rob Starner was our guest this week. He dressed up as Joseph of Arimathea and told us about Jesus from a first century perspective. Really interesting.

Finally the altar call was spot on and we closed with Glorious.

While this wasn’t the easiest Easter sunday, but I know this: there is a bright future at Faith Assembly - and it rests in Jesus!

Testing MacJournal

Well I have been absent from blogging for quite some time.
I am hoping this new program will help that.
It is called MacJournal. This is kind of a test-run but also my first entry ...
I’ll be posting our Easter Sunday Set list soon...
